SUPERVISION

ONLINE

Supervision is an exciting and passionate journey in learning from experience and that learning journey, like all journeys, is filled with insights, self awareness, challenges and surprises.

Michael Carroll

My intention is to create with you an open, trusting space where we can explore what you are experiencing in relation to your clients, and how best I can support, guide and empower you within and around your work.

During supervision we talk about your therapy relationships, what’s working, how we may build on your strengths, or particular areas of curiosity (be that theoretical, creative, or otherwise). We also consider what might be getting in the way of you being fully present and empathic. It is important to allow time to explore how you connect with your clinical work, being attentive to possible parallel process and transference/counter-transference which may be playing out in the therapy room.

We look at different perspectives: the client's, your own, social, cultural, to name but a few. Dilemmas can occur and we contemplate what is most therapeutic and ethical in these situations. Sometimes this can mean dropping further into confusion, conflict, tricky ethical dilemmas, or even stepping back, and I wish to support you in these potentially uncomfortable places.

Very much in alignment with my approach as a therapist, I pay much attention to the somatics, sensation, non-verbal clues, what is coming alive in our dynamic, and how we can invite open and honest exploration.

Getting started

As with therapy, we would meet for an initial consultation to get a sense of our ‘fit’, and to decide whether we would like to work together.

The next step would be to try a few supervisory sessions with your currents clients.

Location

I offer session remotely via Zoom between the hours of 7am - 7pm GMT.

Investment

£45 for the consultation (1 hour)

£45 per hour for ongoing supervision

Cancellation

You may cancel or re-arrange a session with 48 hours notice (2 full working days) with no charge.

Frequency and length of sessions

The length of session (usually 60 or 90 minutes), and frequency depends on your case load, how much support you would like, and where applicable, the requirements of your regulatory body.

Supervision is a professional requirement and I aim to:

  • Cultivate an open and trusting relationship with you grounded in the core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence.

  • Give you my full attention & presence needed to sustain a sound supervisory alliance.

  • Be attentive to your self care and safeguarding issues

  • Support you to develop self-awareness, self-trust and self-acceptance.

  • Consider with you relevant theory, reading, workshops CPD

  • Encourage your creative process and flow: this may involve movement, art, myth, archetypes, the esoteric realm, dreams, somatic experience

  • Support you to explore ethical dilemmas where rules or standards for ‘right’ conduct or practice may arise.
